    Think Secret sources have also been dropping additional iPhone-related details over the past weeks. Among the more notable pieces of information: there will be no insurance offered for the iPhone from AT&T; or Asurion, the firm AT&T; uses for its insurance plans. This means customers who break or lose an iPhone will be unable to replace it at a nominal cost.

    Apple does plan to include two years of free phone support with iPhone purchases, however, and an AppleCare for iPhone plan is in the works that would cover the hardware for a period of two years as well, similar to the AppleCare for iPod plan. Such a plan would not cover damage caused by the user, however, and pricing has yet to be determined for the AppleCare plan. Apple charges $59 for AppleCare for iPod, and $39 for AppleCare for iPod nano.

    Sources are mixed regarding iPhone pre-sales ahead of the launch. While pre-sales were on track to begin around June 11, the date of Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference, one source says that idea has been scrapped, while another says pre-sales may begin about a week ahead of launch.

    Also yet to be confirmed are reports from sources that Apple will allow iPhone activations through iTunes. While customers who purchase the iPhone in an Apple or Cingular retail store will active their iPhone right there, those who purchase it through Apple's Web site will take care of activation through iTunes, according to one source, including selecting a phone plan and creating an account with AT&T.;
